Unusual Feline Vampire: A Mixture of Bat and Panther Yet Surprisingly Affectionate and Tranquil

This extraordinary type of feline originates from the Siamese breed. Despite their striking looks, they are very affectionate and gentle creatures that wouldn’t cause harm to anyone. They love to be close with their owners, and they are known for being excellent cuddle buddies. Surprisingly, they actually enjoy playing fetch with their human companions!

Many people are fascinated by the unique appearance of the Oriental Shorthair cat, often comparing them to a cross between a panther and a bat. However, the breed’s distinctive look does not match their calm and affectionate personality. Tuomas Ikonen, an illustrator from Lemi, Finland, is the proud owner of three Oriental Shorthairs named Hugo, Toivo, and Hannu. Despite their vampire-like looks, they are gentle and cuddly pets. According to Tuomas, Toivo is the most eye-catching with his panther and bat-like features, but he is a harmless creature who loves being carried around by their daughter. Hugo, on the other hand, is a peaceful cat who enjoys sleeping by the fireplace and indulging in food.

According to his owner, Tuomas, Toivo is a playful and affectionate cat with a gentle disposition. While he may not be as active as he was in his youth, Toivo occasionally joins in the playtime of younger cats. His favorite pastime is watching birds and squirrels from the window, and he enjoys playing with his mouse, often dropping it in water cups or drinking glasses. In addition, Toivo is fond of watching bird videos on YouTube. On the other hand, Hannu, another cat owned by Tuomas, enjoys playing fetch with toys and has a mischievous streak, often stealing his daughter’s plush toys when she isn’t looking. He also loves eating.

The Meowrientals Instagram account features three tabby cats that belong to the Oriental Shorthair breed. With almost 20,000 followers, this account showcases candid photos of the cats’ daily lives. Despite their fearsome appearance, Oriental Shorthairs are social, smart, and communicative pets. They remain playful and are even known to enjoy playing fetch. These cats have a close relation to Siamese cats and are originally from Thailand. However, they were developed in the US by New York cat breeders who were fascinated by the lynx pattern found on Siamese cats. The owner of the Meowrientals account, Tuomas, says that these cats participate in everything and follow him and his family everywhere. They also enjoy watching the family cook and sleeping in their bed.
