Donald Trump is more popular than ever, according to shock poll, as he prepares for address to Congress

Part 1 of 2

President Donald Trump’s aggressive approach to spending cuts, deportations, and foreign policy moves is gaining him new supporters, according to a new DailyMail.com poll.

The Trump tracking poll, launched in partnership with J.L. Partners, reveals that his approval rating has increased by one point in the last two weeks, now standing at 54 percent—a historic high for a president known for dividing public opinion. Meanwhile, 46 percent of those surveyed disapprove of his performance.

Much of the surge in approval comes from younger voters, with 56 percent of 18 to 29-year-olds expressing support, up from 51 percent two weeks earlier.

The poll suggests that Trump’s sweeping actions on government reforms have found favor with more Americans than critics—at least for now. However, the survey was conducted just before Trump’s highly publicized confrontation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, an event that could potentially shift public opinion.

When asked if their view of the president had become more positive or negative, 36 percent of Americans said they had a more positive outlook, while only 16 percent reported a more negative perspective.

Respondents highlighted their admiration for Trump’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises. One voter, a New York Democrat and Kamala Harris supporter, explained their support by saying, “because he has focused on taking out corruption in the government.”

Since taking office on January 20, Trump has aggressively cut down federal operations, shutting down USAID and laying off thousands of government employees—all while maintaining a steady pace of executive orders and diplomatic engagements.

On Tuesday, Trump is set to address a joint session of Congress, a major political event where he is expected to celebrate his accomplishments and lay out his agenda for the year ahead.
