Princess Anne rushes to King Charles’s side after ‘brief’ hospital trip

The Princess Royal spent the morning with her brother, King Charles, following his brief hospital stay on Thursday.

Princess Anne visited King Charles in London just hours after he was hospitalized due to temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment.

On Thursday evening, Buckingham Palace provided an update on the King’s health, confirming that he had postponed his scheduled engagements to focus on his recovery. After being discharged, he returned to Clarence House, where he spent the night resting alongside Queen Camilla.

This morning, Charles appeared in good spirits as he departed his London residence for Highgrove, his Gloucestershire home. Seated in the back of a black Audi, he lowered the window to smile and wave at the crowd of well-wishers and photographers gathered outside at around 10:30 a.m.

Just minutes earlier, Princess Anne was seen leaving in a black Bentley as she made her way to Buckingham Palace, where she was scheduled to host an investiture ceremony.

At 76, the King was reportedly in good form at his London residence last night, attending to state papers and making calls from his study. It is expected that he will continue handling official paperwork while at Highgrove.

A source described this latest health development as “the most minor bump in a road that is very much heading in the right direction.”

Buckingham Palace’s Official Statement

In an official statement, Buckingham Palace addressed the situation:

“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, the King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.

“His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

The statement continued:

“His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and, as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled.

“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

Despite this brief health setback, it is understood that the King and Queen’s upcoming state visit to Italy next month is still expected to proceed as planned.
