After over a decade of dedicated service, Natasha Archer, the trusted personal assistant to the Princess of Wales, is moving on from her royal role. The 37-year-old is departing Kensington Palace to start her own private consultancy.
A New Chapter After 15 Years
Archer’s decision to leave comes after 15 years of working closely with both Kate Middleton and Prince William. Kensington Palace confirmed the news and expressed their full support for her next steps.
“After 15 years, Natasha is leaving Kensington Palace where she’s been an invaluable member of the private household,” a palace spokesperson shared with The Post. “We wish Natasha the very best for the exciting opportunities ahead.”
A Trusted Royal Aide and Confidant
Since joining the royal household in 2010, Archer quickly became an essential part of the royal family’s inner workings. Initially assisting both the Prince and Princess of Wales, she eventually became one of Kate’s closest confidantes.
In 2013, she was photographed arriving at the Lindo Wing ahead of the birth of Prince George, carrying a baby seat and clothing for the occasion. Over the years, Archer unofficially took on the role of Kate’s stylist, helping to plan outfits for state functions and international tours.
Her influence extended to the rest of the family as well—in 2019, she played a role in Prince William’s decision to wear a traditional sherwani at a royal reception in Pakistan.
For her dedicated service, Archer was honored with the Royal Victorian Order in 2019. By 2022, she had been promoted to senior private executive assistant, a role that included overseeing Kate’s wardrobe, calendar, and special projects.
Archer is married to royal photographer Chris Jackson. The couple wed in 2017 and have two sons.
Kate and William Continue Their Royal Duties
Despite Archer’s departure, it remains business as usual for the Prince and Princess of Wales. The couple recently attended a French state banquet, where Kate turned heads in a striking red silk gown paired with a diamond tiara.
Earlier this month, the Princess of Wales spoke candidly about her recovery journey following cancer treatment. During a visit to Colchester Hospital on July 2, she reflected on how challenging life has been post-treatment.
“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” she said.
She continued, “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to. And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”
Middleton also spoke about learning to accept a “new normal,” adding, “It takes time… and it’s a roller coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be. But the reality is you go through hard times.”
A Tough Year for the Royal Family
In March 2024, the Princess revealed she had been undergoing treatment for cancer, though the specific type was not disclosed. She largely stepped back from public duties, focusing on her health and her family.
“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” she shared at the time. “Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
By September, she had completed her chemotherapy treatments. In a January Instagram post, she wrote, “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery.”
She added, “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
