Princess Eugenie’s unlikely but long-standing friendship with British pop legend Robbie Williams and his wife, American actress Ayda Field, has once again caught the attention of royal watchers. The trio recently reunited for a summer getaway in Portugal, where Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, own a lavish holiday home.
Ayda shared a series of Instagram snapshots from the trip, featuring candid moments with Eugenie and Robbie. One photo showed Eugenie standing beside Ayda in front of an ornate wrought iron gate, looking relaxed in a khaki sleeveless maxi dress and cream sandals. Ayda wore a breezy white linen co-ord with platform wedges. Other images captured the friends smiling together, along with sweet beach moments featuring the Williams’ children. Ayda captioned the post with “Obrigada #summer #familytime”, using the Portuguese word for “thank you”.

For some, this connection might seem unexpected, but their friendship has roots stretching back more than a decade. Eugenie and Jack were introduced to Robbie and Ayda by Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, who reportedly struck up a rapport with Ayda during a shopping trip in St. Barts in 2011. The encounter led to the royals visiting the Williams’ Los Angeles home, and by May that year, the families were close enough to watch the Eurovision Song Contest together at Robbie’s Wiltshire estate.
Over the years, the friendship deepened, with Robbie and Ayda attending Eugenie’s 2018 royal wedding. Their daughter, Theodora “Teddy” Williams, served as one of the bridesmaids alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and other young royals. It has even been said that Eugenie considers Robbie “the brother she never had”.
The latest reunion took place at Eugenie and Jack’s villa in the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club in Comporta. The private resort, located on Portugal’s scenic Alentejo coast, is famed for its secluded beaches, luxury amenities, and celebrity clientele. Villas in the area reportedly start at £3.6 million ($4.7 million).
