Queen Camilla has faced claims of brushing off the Princess of Wales during a public moment with First Lady Melania Trump on Tuesday, September 17, as part of President Donald Trump’s two-day state visit to the UK.
The American president and Melania received a formal royal welcome and attended a lavish banquet at Windsor Castle before turning to politics the following day. On September 18, Trump met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while Melania spent more time alongside Princess Kate.
The Frosty Exchange at Windsor Castle
Footage from Wednesday shows a seemingly awkward moment as Kate, Camilla, and Melania conversed outside Victoria House shortly after the Trumps’ helicopter landed in the castle gardens.
In the clip, the three women stood chatting together when Camilla appeared to motion toward Kate, who then stepped aside and moved to stand beside Prince William. Camilla and Melania briefly continued their conversation before the group lined up for the approaching horse-drawn carriages.

The moment quickly spread online, with some viewers claiming Camilla had “told Kate to move.”
One Twitter user wrote: “Queen Camilla ejected the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, from her conversation with First Lady Melania Trump.”
Another commented: “That was rude.”
A third added: “What was that? It’s like she shooed her away.”
And one more wrote: “Wow. What was that from Camilla? She told her to move along…”
Defenders Say Camilla Was Just Giving a Warning
Not everyone agreed with the accusations. Some social media users suggested Camilla was simply alerting Kate to the arrival of the carriages and ensuring everyone was in position.
“She does not – she warns her the horses are approaching and she and Melanie but also step back,” one viewer argued.
Another added: “No she didn’t, she was letting her know the carriages had arrived.”
A third said: “No she didn’t. She said watch out, the carriages are coming. Get ready.”
Kate and Melania’s Engagement at Frogmore Gardens
Despite the online chatter, Kate and Melania spent more time together the following day at Frogmore Gardens. There, they met Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and children from the Scouts’ Squirrels programme.
The young Scouts, aged four to five, received sandwiches made with honey from Kate’s personal beehive and jars of White House honey from Melania. The children were taking part in outdoor activities on the Windsor Castle estate as they worked toward earning their Go Wild badges.
