‘An exclusive message’: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to make a cameo in new Disneyland documentary

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping into a new television project that pays homage to Disneyland, the “happiest place on earth,” appearing alongside a lineup of faded film stars and sitcom actors.

Disney confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make a cameo in The Happiest Story on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland, a special documentary airing Sunday on ABC to celebrate the park’s milestone anniversary.

Celebrity Reflections and Sussexes’ Message

The feature promises a nostalgic journey, with ABC noting, “Viewers will hear reflections on childhood visits to the park from some of Disney’s biggest fans including Hollywood’s Neil Patrick Harris, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jon Favreau, Patrick Warburton and Tiffany Haddish. And an exclusive message from Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on what the park means to them and their family.”

The program will also look at Disneyland’s history, its impact, and what lies ahead for the original Anaheim park, which has since inspired five sister resorts around the globe in Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Florida.

A Royal Family Day at Disneyland

This appearance follows closely on the heels of Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday celebration, which the Sussexes marked with a VIP trip to Disneyland. Meghan shared a video on Instagram showing the family’s two-day outing, joined by Prince Archie, 6.

The clip featured the foursome riding attractions, tasting park favorites, and enjoying a Disney princess–themed birthday cake. “Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!” Meghan captioned the post, pairing it with Peggy Lee’s “It’s a Good Day.”

Royal commentator Rupert Bell later noted that the couple experienced the park in “the VIP lane with extra bells on,” telling TalkTV, “There didn’t seem to be any other members of the public while they were there.”

What’s Next for the Sussexes and Disney?

It remains uncertain whether the couple’s video message for the Disney special was tied to the VIP treatment or if it signals the start of a new collaboration with the company.

The Sussexes are already navigating Hollywood with a first-look deal at Netflix, which allows other platforms the chance to compete for their projects. Their involvement in the Disney documentary suggests they may be expanding their entertainment footprint further.
