Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Make Rare Appearance at Kevin Costner’s One805 Event

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out in the California sunshine on September 20, attending the One805LIVE! 2025 charity concert in Carpinteria. The event, benefiting first responders, drew flashbulbs, applause, and its fair share of side-eye commentary.

A Night of Tribute

The concert supports One805, a nonprofit born in the aftermath of the devastating Montecito mudslides in January 2018. That disaster, which followed the Thomas Fire, claimed 23 lives and destroyed hundreds of homes. Today, the organization provides critical equipment, mental health support, and resources for Santa Barbara County’s firefighters, police, and sheriff departments.

Hollywood star Kevin Costner lent his presence to the evening, but it was the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who captured most of the attention.

Harry kept things relaxed in an open-collar shirt and navy blazer, while Meghan glowed in a sleeveless navy belted dress, accessorized with gold bangles. Cameras caught the pair chatting with officials, walking arm-in-arm, and later, taking to the stage together. With his arm around Meghan’s waist, Harry addressed the crowd, while Meghan stood close, smiling and clutching his jacket.

Reactions Online

As with most of their public appearances, reactions online were mixed. Admirers praised their chemistry and Meghan’s look, with comments like: “Beautiful couple” and “They’re matching — how sweet.” Others applauded their commitment to supporting local causes.

Critics, however, were quick to chime in. Meghan’s high heels drew comments such as, “Who wears 4-inch heels to a field,” while some questioned why she joined Harry on stage. Another wrote: “I’ve never seen a couple touch each other so much in public… why do they do that?”

Roots in California

Love them or loathe them, Harry and Meghan’s appearance underscored their deepening ties to Santa Barbara. Since relocating to Montecito in 2020, the couple have increasingly aligned themselves with local charities and causes, their presence ensuring the spotlight shines a little brighter on events like One805LIVE.
