Meghan Markle defended after she’s accused of ‘copying’ Kate Middleton with ‘new’ detail

Meghan Markle has been strongly defended by fans after facing accusations of “copying” Kate Middleton, with critics online pointing out what they believed was a “new” change in her appearance.

Surprise Appearance at One805Live!

On 20 September, Meghan and Prince Harry made an unannounced appearance at the One805Live! concert in Santa Barbara, California.

The charity event supports first responders by raising funds for equipment and mental health programs. During the evening, Prince Harry took the stage to present an award to Santa Barbara County Fire Chief, Mark Hartwig, while Meghan joined him in support.

Hair Sparks Online Debate

Attention quickly shifted online, with many social media users focusing on Meghan’s hairstyle. Critics claimed she had lightened her hair to imitate the Princess of Wales, who recently shifted from her usual brunette look to a blonder tone.

One X user wrote: “They are saying Meghan lightened her hair to copy Kate.”

Another added: “Looks like she’s sporting a Catherine WIG now,” referencing rumors that Kate has worn wigs at public appearances.

A third critic commented: “Meghan Markle, you’re so predictable. Why can’t you just be yourself and stop trying to emulate the Princess of Wales by lightening your hair colour? It’s so sad.”

A fourth sneered: “Of course she got highlights.”

Fans Defend Meghan

Many others, however, pushed back against the criticism, pointing out that Meghan has been seen with similar hair shades for months and that the supposed change was more likely due to sunlight or stage lighting.

“‘Meghan lightened her hair’ when this is her from months ago?? You guys are so unserious,” one user replied.

Another added: “Did they not see photos of Meghan while she was married to Trevor? Her hair was AUBURN.”

One supporter noted: “She actually didn’t lighten her hair. It’s the stage & sun lighting. If you look at the video with her and Harry walking away, you will see that her hair is very dark.”

A final comment echoed this sentiment: “And in the video of her walking, she clearly has her dark locks, they’re desperate.”
