A body language expert has revealed how Meghan Markle’s relationship dynamics have shifted dramatically between her first marriage and her life with Prince Harry — exposing a transformation that redefined her role from supporting partner to commanding presence.

The ‘Trophy Wife’ Years

Judi James, a leading analyst of nonverbal behavior, compared photos from Meghan’s first marriage to Hollywood producer Trevor Engelson with more recent images of her alongside Harry. The contrast, she says, is striking.

Back then, Meghan often appeared as a passive partner. In couple shots, Trevor stood firmly at the center while Meghan leaned in from the side, smiling politely. At glitzy events, Trevor projected confidence with classic power poses, while Meghan offered pageant-like smiles that suggested restraint rather than natural warmth. Group photos reinforced the pattern: Trevor mingled, while Meghan hovered at the edge, or posed with female friends. Even when side by side, their body language showed little synchronicity.
