Meghan Markle forced to correct Mindy Kaling for calling her ‘wrong’ name as she reveals she and kids have new surname

Meghan Markle had to correct Mindy Kaling after being called by the “wrong” name during her new Netflix series.

The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex, who shares two children, Archie (5) and Lilibet (3), with Prince Harry, has given fans a glimpse into her family life through her latest lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, which premiered on Netflix today (March 4).

In the second episode of the show, Meghan is joined by her friend Mindy Kaling as they chat about their favorite fast food. Meghan reminisces about growing up with takeout meals.

“I don’t think anyone in the world knows that Meghan Markle has eaten Jack In The Box and loves it,” Mindy remarked.

However, Meghan shifted the conversation, pointing out that she found it amusing that Mindy kept referring to her as “Meghan Markle.”

“It’s so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle, you know I’m Sussex now.

“You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’

“I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, ‘This is OUR family name. Our little family name.’”

Mindy quickly responded, “Well, now I know and I love it.”

Prince Harry and Meghan were granted the Sussex title by Queen Elizabeth when they married in 2018.

In a recent interview with People, Meghan elaborated on why the name is so important to her.

“It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children,” she explained.

“I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H, and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”

She also described the Sussex name as “part of our love story.”

Reflecting on her experience as a mother, Meghan shared, “When your children get to a certain age—when you’re not just playing in the sandbox with them but almost playing in your own sandbox again—it’s super joyful.

“As a woman, a mom, and a wife, to be able to find yourself again—in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older—is a wonderful feeling.”

With Love, Meghan is now available to stream on Netflix.
