Meghan Markle is reportedly making a surprise return to the big screen — eight years after leaving acting behind to marry Prince Harry.
Before stepping into royal life, Meghan was best known for her role as paralegal Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama Suits, where she starred for seven seasons. She bowed out of the series after her engagement to the Duke of Sussex was announced in November 2017.
At the time, reports revealed that Meghan’s contract, along with those of her co-stars, ended with the seventh season. Negotiations were required for the eighth, which gave her the perfect opportunity to step away from acting altogether.

Now, after years of downplaying the idea of returning to Hollywood, it seems the Duchess has had a change of heart.
According to The Sun, Meghan has joined the cast of a new Amazon MGM Studios film titled Close Personal Friends, starring Jack Quaid, Lily Collins, and Brie Larson. The movie reportedly follows two couples — one famous and one not — and Meghan is said to play herself.
Speculation over her return grew after she was spotted on set in Pasadena, Los Angeles, on Wednesday, November 5. A production insider told the outlet: “This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She’s been swamped with offers, but this one felt right. It’s her way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set. Everyone involved is super-excited and sworn to secrecy.”
Prince Harry is said to be fully behind the move. “He’s really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy,” the source added.

Meghan, now 43, had previously told Variety in 2022 that she had no plans to act again, saying: “I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, the Duchess has stayed in the public eye through producing, writing, and hosting. Most recently, she launched her own Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, featuring celebrity guests and a glimpse into her life in California.
If confirmed, Close Personal Friends will mark Meghan Markle’s first acting role since leaving Suits — and her official return to Hollywood.
