Meghan Markle Shares Rare Footage of Prince Harry with Their 2 Kids to Celebrate Father’s Day: ‘Our Favorite Guy’

Meghan Markle is celebrating Prince Harry this Father’s Day with a touching post.

On June 15, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared a rare glimpse into their family life on Instagram, posting a video montage of Harry, 40, spending quality time with their children — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.

“The best,” Meghan captioned the clip. “Happy Father’s Day to our favorite guy.”

Set to Jason Mraz’s uplifting track “Have It All,” the footage shows Harry playing, laughing, and enjoying time with Archie and Lilibet — from running alongside Archie on a bike to tender moments holding them when they were younger.

Life in California, Away from the Royal Spotlight

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan have been raising their children privately in Montecito, California. Meghan, who returned to social media earlier this year under the handle @meghan, uses her Instagram to offer occasional insights into her family life and career projects.

Both Archie and Lilibet have inherited Harry’s signature red hair — something the Duke of Sussex attributes to his late mother Princess Diana’s family.

“The Spencer gene is very, very strong,” he joked during a 2023 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Reflecting on his relationship with Meghan, he added, “I really thought there was no way the ginger gene would stand a chance against my wife’s, but I was wrong. Go gingers!”

To celebrate Lilibet’s fourth birthday on June 4, the Sussexes took a family trip to Disneyland. The outing echoed a moment from Harry’s own childhood — a 1993 visit to Disney World with his mother, Princess Diana, and brother Prince William.

Postponed Gala Appearance Amid Protests

Meghan had been scheduled to attend the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County’s Night of Wonder gala on June 14, where she was to be honored for her advocacy work supporting women and underserved communities.

However, the event was postponed due to citywide protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. Meghan was also expected to give a speech during the evening.

While celebrating Father’s Day with his family, Harry continues to face a strained relationship with his own father, King Charles. Tensions have remained high since Harry and Meghan’s 2020 royal departure, and were heightened further when Harry lost a legal appeal on May 2 seeking to reinstate his state-funded security while in the U.K.

In a candid interview with the BBC, Harry said, “He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” but emphasized that he still hopes for peace. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”

Harry added, “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” referencing King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, which was publicly announced in 2024.

Although the palace has denied having the authority to grant Harry the level of security he’s requesting, the issue remains a major barrier. Since moving to the U.S., Harry and Meghan have only returned to the U.K. with their children once — for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

In the same May 2 interview, Harry said, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point” without adequate protection.
