‘Not a random choice’: Princess Catherine sends very clear message to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle after breakthrough King Charles meeting

Princess Catherine appeared to send a carefully chosen “message” to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just a day after King Charles reunited with his youngest son following 18 months apart.

The Princess of Wales, 43, stepped out at Sudbury Silk Mills on Thursday in a $1,720 Earl jacket and $1,070 Schoolboy trousers by British designer Bella Freud. She paired the outfit with a black Boden sweater and gold diamond hoop earrings.

What caught everyone’s attention, however, was her choice of fabric — Glen plaid, also known as Prince of Wales check — a style many saw as a deliberate nod of support to her husband in the wake of Harry’s meeting with King Charles.

A Statement Through Style

Catherine’s decision to wear the distinctive print was particularly striking because royal family members often avoid the pattern in public, as it can appear distorted on camera. The timing left many convinced it was no coincidence.

Social media lit up with reactions:

“Catherine’s subtle message she stands with her man,” one person wrote on X.

“Yes…Prince of Wales check…classic and timeless. NOT a random choice, to be sure,” another added.

“She’s the picture of commitment and loyalty,” a third commented.

Her ensemble was widely interpreted as a show of dedication both to her husband and to the King.

Harry’s Meeting with the King

Meanwhile, Prince Harry spent about an hour with King Charles at Clarence House on Wednesday during his four-day visit to the UK for the WellChild Awards. The father and son shared a private tea, their first face-to-face meeting in over a year and a half.

Afterward, Harry was seen smiling and waving to the public before attending a reception for his Invictus Games organisation. When asked about his father’s health, he responded warmly: “Yes, he’s great, thank you.”

This marked a noticeable shift from his BBC interview in May, where Harry had admitted his father was barely speaking to him because of their dispute over security. “There have been so many disagreements, differences between me and some of my family,” he said at the time, calling the issue of safety “the only thing that’s left.”

Brothers Still Divided

Despite his meeting with King Charles, Harry did not reunite with Prince William. The brothers paid separate tributes to Queen Elizabeth II on the third anniversary of her death, only kilometres apart. Reports suggested Harry was “firmly against” any three-way meeting with his father and brother.

During his stay, Harry is understood to have covered the cost of both his hotel accommodation and his own security.
