Prince Harry and Meghan’s £100million deal with Netflix SCRAPPED in ‘huge loss of revenue’ for couple

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s multi-million-pound contract with Netflix will not be renewed when it expires in September.

Although no official statement will be made, insiders confirm that both parties have quietly agreed to end the partnership.

The decision follows lackluster performance from the couple’s recent projects—most notably Harry’s personal passion project Polo, which only drew around 500,000 viewers. Additionally, Netflix executives were reportedly frustrated with Meghan’s decision to prioritize her lifestyle brand As Ever over delivering new content for the platform.

A source revealed: “The deal is done; no more shows will be made. Netflix feel they’ve got all they can from the couple.”

Strong Start, but Short Shelf Life

While the initial collaboration—particularly the couple’s first documentary series—delivered massive viewership and sparked global conversations, executives knew that would likely be the peak of content from the pair.

According to the insider, “Netflix were clever in that they got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary series, and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair.”

The source added, “They’re not unhappy with how things turned out — they got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time. The content got weaker from there on, but frankly, for £20million a year, anything was better than nothing.”

No Hard Feelings, but No Future Projects Planned

According to insiders, there’s no bad blood between the streaming giant and the Sussexes—just a mutual understanding that the collaboration has run its course. Meghan’s growing focus on her own brand made it clear she wouldn’t be prioritizing content creation, and Netflix wasn’t interested in taking a back seat.

“There’s no animosity from either side,” the source said. “Netflix execs are well aware Meghan’s priority now is her own brand, and they won’t play second fiddle to that.”

Though no public announcement will be made, there’s a possibility for a one-off collaboration in the future—if the right project arises. Still, the split will likely hit Harry the hardest: “For Harry, especially, this will be a blow. It’s a huge loss of revenue.”

Future Possibilities and New Partnerships

Despite the end of their deal, Meghan is reportedly still on good terms with Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos. Meanwhile, another major platform—Paramount+—is said to be interested in working with the couple if a compelling opportunity comes along.

Adding to the situation is Netflix’s recent partnership with King Charles and actor Idris Elba on a documentary highlighting the King’s Trust. The insider suggested that continuing ties with the Sussexes might have complicated that high-profile collaboration.

Netflix declined to comment on the matter.
