Prince William and Princess Kate have officially left Adelaide Cottage and moved into their new residence, Forest Lodge. The couple has only lived there for a few weeks, yet the public has already been given a first glimpse of the interior after William filmed a video for the Royal British Legion inside the property.
Viewers noticed elegant double doors trimmed in gold, deep red curtains, soft blue patterned walls, and several framed artworks. The atmosphere feels refined but warm, a style believed to reflect Kate’s touch.
Interiors expert Benji Lewis told the Daily Mail that the Wales family appears to be aiming for a tastefully discreet look. He described the aesthetic as an English country house with light filled rooms, high ceilings, and tall windows. He noted practical choices as well, including clear protective plates on the doors to keep the paintwork pristine. According to him, the overall design blends calm neutrals such as ivory and taupe with subtle contemporary elements.

Forest Lodge dates back more than three centuries and is roughly twice the size of the couple’s previous home. The Georgian estate contains eight bedrooms, a full ballroom, a tennis court, and additional cottages where security staff and the family nanny reside.
Although the property offers far more space, sources say the intention is not simply comfort. The move marks a long term plan for the future of the Wales family as William continues to prepare for his eventual role as king.
A Home for the Future

According to the Daily Mail, the couple plans to remain at Forest Lodge once William ascends the throne. This means they are not expected to take up residence in Buckingham Palace, which historically served as the home of reigning monarchs.
Forest Lodge is set to become the base for the future King William and Queen Kate.
