The second child and only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte, is gradually blossoming into a charming and spirited young girl. With each passing year, more of Charlotte’s personality shines through.
She’s quickly becoming known as the cheekiest member of the royal family. Beyond her bold and lively demeanor, Charlotte also shares an undeniable resemblance with several members of her lineage.
Observers have long noticed how much she mirrors her father, the late Princess Diana, and her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Since her infancy, fans have commented on her likeness to the late monarch.
Princess Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015, at St Mary’s Hospital in London, making her the second child in the Cambridge family. Her birth was celebrated across the nation—landmarks such as the London Eye and Tower Bridge were lit up in pink, and ceremonial salutes took place at Hyde Park and the Tower of London.
A few days after her arrival, it was announced that her full name would be Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, paying tribute to both her grandmother Diana and her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
Charlotte, the middle child between Prince George and Prince Louis, is William and Kate’s only daughter and currently stands fourth in the royal line of succession, following her grandfather Prince Charles, her father, and her elder brother. Despite her place in the middle, Charlotte has already shown strong leadership qualities within her family.

As Charlotte grows older, she’s truly coming into her own appearance. As is customary, a birthday portrait was released when she turned six. Captured by Kate herself—often affectionately dubbed the “unofficial royal photographer” by outlets like the Observer—the photo shows Charlotte glowing as she beams at the camera in a blue floral dress, her hair gently cascading over her shoulders.
At just six years old, she already looked remarkably mature, and the resemblance to Prince William was striking. From their shared eyes to the shape of their smiles, the photograph left little doubt that Charlotte has inherited her father’s good looks—along with what appears to be many of his qualities.
On May 1, 2022, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a new photograph, once again taken by Kate, in honor of Charlotte’s birthday the next day. The caption read:
“Seven tomorrow! The Duchess.”
Charlotte carries herself with impressive confidence for a middle child. According to Samantha Burge—the wife of a Royal Marine commando who once spoke with the Duchess—Kate revealed that Charlotte is “the one in charge” at home. Burge also shared:
“(The duchess said) they are both becoming really good friends, George and Charlotte.”
Charlotte’s bold personality is perfectly balanced by the sweet nature of her older brother, George, and the playful charm of her younger brother, Louis. Though she’s clearly protective of them, Charlotte doesn’t shy away from sibling disputes—particularly morning disagreements with George over music choices. It’s a reminder that even royal children experience the same everyday moments as the rest of us.
During the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, Charlotte made headlines again—this time for correcting George’s posture during the national anthem, “God Save the Queen.” As the royal family stood on the Buckingham Palace balcony, George rested his hands on the railing.
Charlotte subtly tapped him and gestured for him to stand properly. George quickly responded, straightening up and placing his hands at his sides. The sweet interaction quickly went viral, highlighting the charm of the youngest royals.
This wasn’t Charlotte’s only moment of gentle guidance during the Jubilee celebrations. While riding in a carriage with her siblings a few days earlier, she once again displayed her nurturing side. As the parade came to a pause, Louis continued energetically waving to the crowd. Charlotte softly placed her hand over his and gently lowered it, signaling him to stop. The message was clearly received.
Much like her parents have taken unique paths within the monarchy, Charlotte is poised to make her own mark in the royal world. William and Kate have expressed pride and optimism about their daughter’s future.
As reported by Closer Weekly, royal author Katie Nicholl revealed: “‘I think she’s going to be trouble when she’s older,’ Will once joked.” Kate, however, shared a heartfelt sentiment: “It’s very special having a little girl. I feel very, very lucky.”
