Sarah Ferguson revealed why she still lives with Andrew despite being divorced for decades

Following the bombshell news that King Charles III has stripped Prince Andrew of his ‘prince’ title, royal fans have been left with a slew of questions.

One of the most common questions being: what exactly does this mean for his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson?

For those not in the loop, the King took the dramatic decision yesterday (30 October) to formally strip his brother of his Prince and Duke of York titles and HRH style, a move that effectively ends his public life.

It came after his friendship with convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein led to his downfall, and the former Duke of York will now simply be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

It follows allegations that he sexually abused Virginia Giuffre while she was a minor, after she was trafficked by the financier, as detailed in her memoir, which was released this month.
On top of this, Andrew has also agreed to leave Royal Lodge, his mansion in Windsor, where he’s resided alongside Fergie for twenty years.

In the wake of the scandal, here’s everything we can expect will happen to Sarah Ferguson next.

What will Sarah Ferguson’s title be?
Ferguson already had her royal title of Duchess of York removed when Andrew was stripped of his on 17 October.

She married into the monarchy in 1986 when she tied the knot with Andrew, taking on the role of the Duchess of York.

However, just six years later, the couple separated, and by 1996, they had officially divorced, leaving Ferguson with the title: ‘Sarah, Duchess of York,’ which she got to keep.

But as we say, now Fergie will have to simply use her name ‘Sarah Ferguson’ in all areas of her life – something she has been doing for a long time anyway professionally.

In the wake of the news earlier this month, Ferguson has already changed her Twitter handle from ‘@SarahTheDuchess’ to ‘@sarahMFergie15’.

The former couple’s royal daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, however, have been granted permission to retain their ‘Princess’ titles, as they were handed them at birth.

Where will Sarah Ferguson live?
The next giant question on everyone’s minds is where Ferguson is going to live, as she, too, now has to leave the Royal Lodge along with her ex-husband.

The duo have lived together at the Royal Lodge since 2008 and still reside there, almost thirty years after their marriage came to an end.

Buckingham Palace announced yesterday: “Formal notice has today been served to surrender the lease. The move will take place as soon as practicable.”

Multiple reports are suggesting that Andrew will most likely move into a home on the Sandringham estate’s land.

As for Fergie, she’s reportedly been left to her own devices and told to make her own living arrangements, as per Metro.

Some reports claimed that she had her eye on Adelaide Cottage on the grounds of Windsor, but that has allegedly been denied.

As per 7 News, royal commentator Russell Myers claimed on Sunrise: “Andrew will be given a residence on the royal Sandringham estate in Norfolk. He’s been banished from Windsor.

“Sarah Ferguson, we understand, was asking for a royal residence as well.

“I’m told she will no longer have any residence within Windsor. She will have to fend for herself. It’s very, very much that Andrew and Fergie have been exiled from this affair.”

PA also confirmed that Ferguson will not be housed by Charles and will have to find a new home.

Either way, I’m sure we’ll find out her plans soon enough!
