Sir David Beckham reveals ‘next big project’ as he’s knighted by King Charles

Sir David Beckham has officially been knighted by King Charles, marking a major milestone in the football legend’s life and career — and he’s already looking ahead to his next big move.

Earlier today (Tuesday, November 4), Beckham was joined by his wife Victoria and his parents, David and Sandra, at Windsor Castle for the ceremony. It came 22 years after he received an OBE from the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2003.

Following the ceremony, Beckham shared his pride and patriotism, saying: “I couldn’t be prouder. People know how patriotic I am — I love my country. I’ve always said how important the monarchy is to my family. I’m lucky enough to have travelled around the world, and all people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. It makes me proud.”

He previously called the honour “humbling,” reflecting on his East London roots and his family’s pride in being British. “I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour,” he said. “It will take a little while for the news to sink in, but I’m immensely proud, and it’s such an emotional moment to share with my family.”

What David Told the King

According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, who spoke to BetFair Slots, the conversation between Beckham and the King included a surprising revelation about the star’s next project.

Charles reportedly told Beckham: “I am so proud of all you have done with your sports and charities. Amazing, you are unbelievable. I’m proud to knight you.”

“It’s been a great day,” Beckham replied, to which the King answered, “Magic. Now, you do what you’re good at.”

Beckham then appeared to share his next goal: “It’s been my greatest honour, if I’m honest. Next step, I’m going to write a book. But being here has been incredible today.”

King Charles seemed pleased by the idea, replying, “You can write a book, David. And try not to forget those names.” Beckham responded with a smile: “Oh, I’m sure they’ll be so happy to be mentioned in it.”

The pair wrapped up their exchange with the King saying, “It’s lovely to see you again,” to which Beckham replied, “Same here, it’s been an enjoyable experience.”

Beckham’s Royal Connection

Beckham has long enjoyed a close relationship with the royal family. He is friends with both Prince William and Prince Harry, and famously queued for over 12 hours to pay his respects to Queen Elizabeth II when her coffin lay in state in 2022.

In 2024, he was named an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, supporting its work in education and rural skills. “I’ve always been keen to help young people expand their horizons,” he said at the time. “It was inspiring to hear from The King about the Foundation’s work during my visit to Highgrove Gardens — and compare beekeeping tips!”

Now, with a knighthood to his name and a book potentially on the way, Sir David Beckham’s next chapter looks set to be as remarkable as his last.
