Known for their boisterous nature, the Great Kiskadee offer a sight to behold. The contrasting red and black with a mix of yellow gives them quite a unique look.

Having a seemingly square head and a body like a kingfisher gives them a notable appearance. They are omnivorous and often eat fish, and they carry bold behavior like a jay.

The Great Kiskadee makes their introduction with a bright yellow belly and the black-masked head. Their contrasty body gives them a unique look and makes them one hell of an eyecatcher.

Scientifically known as Pitangus sulphuratus, they belong to the Tyrannidae family, commonly known as the flycatcher family.

These passerine birds are covered in beauty from head to tail. Called bem-te-vi in Brazil, they weigh around 63g and are 22cm long.

They feature a short and thick bill, and their wings and tail are brown with strong fringes. The head is black, and the white eyestripe makes a unique, attractive appearance.

Female Kiskadee looks similar to the male

It’s mainly found in Belize, as well as the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas and northern Mexico. Moreover, the female and male Kiskadee look very similar.
