Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Announce Another Staff Shake-Up as 4 Team Members Exit

Part 1 of 2

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are once again making adjustments to their team.

In recent weeks, four members of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s staff have exited their roles, PEOPLE confirmed. Among those who have left are deputy press secretary Kyle Boulia, based in Los Angeles, and U.K. press officer Charlie Gipson. Both had joined the couple’s team last year, according to Hello! on June 13.

New Leadership and Strategy in Communications

These departures follow the couple’s decision to bring on Meredith Maines earlier this year as their first-ever chief communications officer. Maines, who has previously held roles at Google, Hulu, and American Idol, is leading a shift toward a more structured communications approach.

They have also hired Emily Robinson, formerly of Netflix, as their new director of communications. In addition, they’ve enlisted the services of Method Communications, a specialist PR agency, to support their evolving media strategy.

Last year saw more changes, including the exit of global press secretary and head of communications Ashley Hansen, who left to launch her own firm. Josh Kettler, Prince Harry’s chief of staff, also stepped down after a three-month trial period in 2024, with both sides reportedly agreeing to part ways.

A Pattern of High Turnover

“There may be more changes to come,” a source told Hello!. “Meghan and Harry have hired some of the best in the industry, yet somehow, these relationships never seem to last.”

Maines addressed the recent changes in a public statement, saying, “As the Duke and Duchess’s business and philanthropic ventures expand, I’ve made the strategic decision to shift to a more traditional communications model, as reported in Forbes and PR Week.”
