Opinion: Why Prince Harry immediately should divorce Meghan Markle

Part 2 of 2

Harry is rumored to miss the UK and possibly even royal life. So should he and Meghan stay together for the sake of it? No, Harry, it might be time to swallow your pride, give up on the US adventure, seek a divorce, and start over.

“He isn’t his own person anymore”

The Sussexes’ excessive media scrutiny – and the backlash that has come with it – could make Harry’s life and mental health even worse. Separating and ending the marriage may give him relief in this respect, and hopefully make it easier to raise his beloved children into decent people, whether that be as working royals or not

Meanwhile, it’s obvious that Harry and Meghan’s marriage has destroyed almost every scrap of a relationship they had with the royals, and a divorce would almost certainly help Harry rebuild the trust and bond with his UK family (if that’s something he desires).

Ultimately, that would also help his children form relationships with the monarchy, relationships that will surely be crucial when they grow up.

Prince Harry has become a part of the “Sussex’s brand,” and as of today, it almost feels as if he isn’t his own person anymore. After leaving the monarchy in favor of living on Meghan’s “turf,” the question is if he ever will get to be his own person, or always remain “that prince” from across the pond.

Not only that, but Harry has always been a big advocate in helping others through his philanthropic work, which seems to have slowed down plenty since he married Meghan.

Prince Harry – a “Spare” for the rest of his life?

Now, it goes without saying that no one wants to see a divorce. But in the end, perhaps Harry moving on could open many new possibilities and career paths for him. The situation is truly complicated as it is, but it would be an opportunity for the prince to finally show the world who he really is.

Prince Harry was a beloved member of the Royal Family, but his new life has practically destroyed all he fought for. He thought of himself as the “Spare” growing up, and by all accounts still does.

But if the marriage with Meghan Markle continues, he risks becoming another kind of “Spare” for the rest of his life.
