President Donald Trump found himself in an unexpected comedic moment on Friday when a boom microphone accidentally hit him in the face.
The incident occurred while the 78-year-old president was answering reporters’ questions at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
As Trump spoke, the microphone—covered with a fuzzy windscreen often called a “dead cat” in the industry—brushed against his mouth and slid across his face. Instinctively, he leaned back, eyes closing to avoid further contact.
His immediate reaction was one of surprise and mild irritation, as he shot a glance at the reporter responsible before raising his eyebrows.
As the microphone was quickly pulled away, Trump couldn’t resist making a joke about the moment.
“She just made television tonight. She just became a big story tonight,” he quipped, seemingly referring to the reporter behind the mic mishap.
Still chuckling, he turned to someone off-camera and asked, “Did you see that?” before continuing to take questions and eventually boarding Air Force One.
