Prince Harry’s ‘secret move’ in the UK was clear ‘sign’ he ‘wants to remain part of royal family’

Prince Harry’s latest trip to the UK earlier this month was filled with both charity work and family meetings, including a sit-down with King Charles.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, returned to Britain to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8. Just days later, he met his father at Clarence House, the King’s London residence.

Reports say the two shared a “private tea” that lasted about 55 minutes. Harry’s team later confirmed that “a framed photograph was handed over” during the meeting.

But that wasn’t the only family moment on his trip. According to insiders, Harry also visited another royal relative—something many view as a gesture toward mending family ties.

Visit to the Duke of Kent

Following the death of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, on September 4, Harry reportedly made a quiet visit to the Duke of Kent at Kensington Palace.

A source told HELLO! that the duke’s cousin “travelled privately to Kensington Palace to offer condolences” before leaving the country.

Although Harry did not attend the duchess’ funeral on September 16, royal experts say his personal visit carried its own meaning.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond explained: “I think it’s a sign that Harry very much wants to remain part of the royal family. But that doesn’t mean he wants to be part of the institution. Family ties seem to mean a lot to him these days, in spite of the damage he has done and the hurt he has caused.”

She noted that the Duke and Duchess of Kent had been “part of his life for many years,” even attending Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018.

Bond added: “I think he felt it important to go to see the Duke and express his condolences personally — I’m sure he felt it was a natural thing to do. We know that he is seeking reconciliation, and this was just another small step to show that he does still care about his relatives, even though his life is now elsewhere.”

Signs of Reconciliation with King Charles

Harry’s time with King Charles, who is currently receiving cancer treatment, has also fueled speculation that father and son could be on the path to repairing their fractured bond.

The two have reportedly had a strained relationship since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Harry later criticized his father and brother, Prince William, in multiple interviews and in his memoir Spare.

Yet, in May, Harry expressed publicly that he hoped to mend those relationships. He told the BBC: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight any more. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

With private visits, shared moments, and heartfelt words, questions remain: are Harry and King Charles finally beginning to heal old wounds? For many royal watchers, his latest trip suggests the Duke of Sussex is taking steps—however small—toward rebuilding trust and reconnecting with the family he once left behind.
