Prince William and Princess Kate ‘come to agrument’ over son George’s future

Prince George, the eldest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, is reportedly set to attend Eton College starting in September 2026 — following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William. While Kensington Palace hasn’t made an official announcement, royal insiders suggest the decision has already been made after months of deliberation and school visits.

Why Eton?

Currently a student at Lambrook School in Berkshire, George is expected to begin his senior education next year. According to reports, the family explored several top institutions before narrowing their focus to Eton — the prestigious all-boys boarding school located just across the river from their Windsor residence.

Although Marlborough College, the co-ed school where Kate Middleton herself studied, was also reportedly under consideration, Eton’s proximity to home — along with Prince William’s own experience there — appears to have played a significant role in their choice.

Was There Disagreement Between William and Kate?

There were murmurs earlier this year that the royal couple may have had differing views on where their son should be educated. But recent reports suggest they are now aligned on the matter. One source described a sense of quiet certainty during their visit to Eton — as if a decision had already been reached but was being kept under wraps.

Other Schools on the Radar

Among other schools reportedly considered was Highgate School in north London, which Kate is said to have toured. During her visit, she reportedly showed particular interest in the school’s arts and drama offerings, even discussing theater opportunities for students. This has led some to believe that the princess values a well-rounded experience — not just academic prestige — when thinking about her children’s futures.

Preparing for Royal Life Beyond the Classroom

For Prince George, and his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, education is only part of the larger picture. According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the children are being raised with an understanding of the public roles they will inherit.

George, as second in line to the throne, is expected to take on more royal duties as he matures. Charlotte, currently third in line, may also step into more visible roles, depending on how the royal family evolves. There’s even speculation that one day William could grant her the historic title of Princess Royal — an honor currently held by Princess Anne.

A Milestone at 12?

With Prince George turning 12 next summer, another royal tradition may come into play. In the past, direct heirs to the throne — such as Prince William — began traveling separately from their parents around that age, as a precaution in case of emergencies. Whether this tradition continues or is modernized under William’s more contemporary leadership remains to be seen.

Looking Ahead

Prince George’s reported path to Eton is more than a schooling decision — it’s a symbolic step in preparing the future king. While his parents seem to balance tradition and modern expectations, their choices reflect a deep awareness of both personal and public responsibility.

As George continues to grow, so too will the world’s interest in how he is shaped — not just as a student, but as a future monarch.
